Trainings – DAY 2 – Everything is ready for the start of the Championship

Everything is ready for the beginning of the Championship when Zagreb will write another page of the history of European university sports. Excitement grows as we approach the launch of the competition and soon we will find out which universities will become the first winners of the European Universities Beach Handball Championship.

 

The history of the beach handball started 28 years ago, in 1991. Nine years later, Italy hosted the premiere edition of the European Beach Handball Championship and now, we are less than a day away from the first Championship for students in this young and attractive sport.

 

In the morning, teams from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, University of Pecs, University of Barcelona, Cyprus International University, German Sport University of Cologne, University of Duisburg-Essen had trainings and male teams from the University of Zagreb and the University of Belgrade played a friendly match.

 

When the morning session ended, the Organisation team held a test of Opening Ceremony to prepare for this event, that will take place on Thursday at 12 pm.

 

During the evening, female teams from the University of Barcelona and the University of Zagreb and male teams from Corvinus University of Budapest and University of Zagreb had a test matches how on competitions days everything will be in the best possible way.

After the last check before the beginning of Championship, the player from the University of Zagreb, Andrea Šimara said that her team expects to make the finals: „The courts are great. They made it well, they fixed the lines. The organization is also at the level, so we are satisfied “.

 

At the same time, guys and girls from the University of Tilburg, and the team of the University of Novi Sad for the first time conducted training in Zagreb, although, for girls from Serbia this is not the first time to play on the beach courts on Jarun Lake. Also, the male team from Özyeğin University used the afternoon hours to show their skills in the sand. For the team from the Corvinus University of Budapest, the test match was not enough so they used the last moments before the start of the competition to exercise more actions.
