EHF meets EUSA during European Beach Handball Championship

Representatives of European Handball Federation (EHF) and European University Sports Association (EUSA) held a meeting on June 23 and 24 in Zagreb, Croatia during the European Beach Handball Championship 2017. 

Meeting was attended by EHF Representatives Mr Ole Jorstad, Chairman of EHF Beach Handball Commission, Mr Stefan Lovgren, EHF EC Member and Peter Froschl, EHF Office Beach Handball and EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential inclusion of Beach Handball into EUSA program.



EHF Representatives presented the overview of Beach Handball as part of EHF and the growing development of the sport. The population practicing and competing in top level Beach Handball is mostly students, therefore a potential collaboration with EUSA in regards to Beach Handball may be beneficial for the sport itself. Mr Jorstad mentioned the EHF has formed a commission for the development of Beach Handball within Universities and is already making huge steps towards creating a platform for the future development of Beach Handball. Mr Aliti thanked EHF for organizing the meeting and for the collaboration with EHF in general which is very successful during European Universities Games and European Universities Handball Championships. EUSA will evaluate the possibilities and keep communication open about developing Beach Handball at university level.

European Beach Handball Championship Zagreb 2017

The second day, EUSA Sports Manager Mr Aliti, was invited to join EHF representatives during exciting semi-final matches and witness the top level performance and atmosphere in Zagreb, the venue where Beach Volleyball was organized during European Universities Games 2016. He met EHF President Mr Michael Wiederer and Vice President Mr Predrag Boskovic. Mr Wiederer thanked EUSA for attending the Championship in Zagreb and acknowledged the good collaboration between the two organisations.

In the next months, there will be few more operational meetings organized with EHF in order to discuss the next steps of strengthening the collaboration between EUSA and EHF with potential inclusion of Beach Handball.
